Sky view from the plane

Introduction

The tail end of January had the Savvy Source team flying all over the country in what felt like a whirlwind of ideas, people, and places. We spent a week hopping from plane to Uber to hotel and back again between Las Vegas, Cleveland, and our home base of Westfield, Massachusetts. The amount of walking we did between the conferences, hotels, and events had my feet screeching to let up on the marathon of steps. By the tail end of the trip, they had gone silent and gave in to the monotonous torture of pedestrian travel. Complaining feet to the side, we had an amazing time learning, challenging, meeting, and collaborating on innovation and the evolution of business.

Acumatica Hackathon: Driving Innovation in ERP

Larry Pantus and I spent the first 2/3 of our trip in Las Vegas, participating in a Hackathon focused on creative, innovative integrations into Acumatica, a cloud-based ERP. The challenge was: creativity, which, while broad, allowed for some amazing ideas to develop. Our team, named Team Atlas (inspired by the Greek Titan who carried the heavens on his shoulders), focused on improving visual project scheduling within Acumatica’s framework. We integrated natural language processing (NLP) and AI to enhance workflow automation. The hackathon pushed our boundaries and showed us firsthand the power of collaboration in technological advancements.

Key Takeaways:

  • Visualization of project scheduling is especially effective in an ERP
  • The potential of AI and NLP in enhancing ERP solutions
  • Valuable insights into teamwork and collaboration

Acumatica Summit: A Gathering of Innovation & Partnership

The Hackathon was followed by a 3-day summit, full of energizing keynotes, insightful breakout sessions, and opportunities galore to make new connections. Some of the themes woven throughout the summit were continuous innovation, practical integration of AI, and effective partnerships. The number of partners with unique solutions and integrations with Acumatica was simply impressive. These stretched the gamut of native Excel integrations by Velixo to industry-specific solutions such as a property management solution by Sprintera. One of Acumatica’s founders, Mike Shchelkonogov, presented a keynote along with multiple breakout sessions discussing the integration of AI, live demos, how to safely manage the introduction of this technology, and the roadmap forward. Acumatica works solely through their VARs (value-added resellers) to act as the sales team, allowing the company to focus on impactful development and intimate support of the software. This also offers the added benefit of providing a significantly more invested sales team that is typically local to customers. We walked away from the summit brimming with excitement, meaningful connections, and concrete ideas on where we could take things next.

Key Takeaways:

  • Continuous innovation and practical AI integration
  • Impressive partner solutions and strong VAR network
  • Inspiration and concrete ideas for future growth

Hyland Sales Kickoff: The Future of ECM & AI Integration

We then took a redeye from sunny Vegas to the cold, winter-bound city of Cleveland. Although we walked out of Hopkins International feeling groggy, sore, and exhausted (discount airlines aren’t in the business of flying beds), we found Hotel Cleveland bustling with activity and invigorating ideas. Hyland had a jam-packed two days in store for us, pushing the boundaries on the possibilities of ECM at the forefront. Discussions revolved around AI integration in ECM, focusing on how it could revolutionize document management, workflow automation, and enhance compliance management. Specific references were made to Hyland’s OnBase platform, its capabilities and the addition of the Content Innovation Cloud. By Friday afternoon, as the event wound down, the Savvy Source team was bursting at the seams with ideas and inspiration.

Key Takeaways:

  • AI integration is transforming ECM
  • Automation and enhanced compliance through ECM
  • New ideas and inspiration from industry leaders
