From Desk to 5K: SAVVY SOURCE Runs Toward Health, Teamwork, and a Little Chaos.
I’ll be the first to admit it – I’m out of shape. Helping Savvy Source grow, juggling family life, and handling the daily chaos of business automation hasn’t exactly left me time to train for a marathon. But lately, I’ve felt it. Too many late nights. Too many skipped workouts. The scale slowly creeping past 200. And suddenly, chasing my kids around feels like an Olympic event.

So, when the idea came up to run the Westfield Flat Fast 5K as a team, I knew it was time to make a change. But this isn’t just about getting fit – it’s about team bonding, community engagement, and proving to myself that I can do this. And if we’re being honest, it’s also about keeping up with my kids, who seem to have endless energy.
Our First Run: Sore, Slow, and Slightly Chaotic
Picture this: a crisp evening, the Savvy Source team lacing up our sneakers, mentally preparing for our first run. We’d hyped ourselves up all week. How hard could it be?

Five minutes in? Reality hit like a freight train. My legs felt like they were about to fall off, protesting every step, Larry was calculating how much automation could replace cardio, and Yev had officially shifted into comedian mode to distract us from the struggle. Meanwhile, Paul was miles ahead of us, with Truly, his beloved pup, bounding alongside him, probably barking server specs to keep him motivated – because if anyone can make a run about servers, it’s Paul.
Kids vs. Adults: The Real Race
Meanwhile, my kids – who decided to ‘train’ with us – were zipping around effortlessly, laughing, and occasionally stopping to pick up a rock or investigate a random puddle.
We huffed, puffed, and exchanged questionable life choices glances, while the kids ran circles around us. Although, by the end of the run, even they had lost some of their enthusiasm. Larry and I had to keep stopping to encourage them on (I was secretly using it as an opportunity to give my burning lungs a rest.) It was humbling, exhausting, and hilarious (check our socials for the sweaty proof – we’re not above a good before-and-after!) But it was also fun – the kind of fun that reminds you why you’re doing this in the first place.
The Grind Continues: Turning This into a Community Event
A couple runs down, many more to go. Instead of suffering alone, we’re making it bigger.
Starting Thursday, 3/27, at 6 PM, meet us at the Depot Square Lot by the Twin Bridges, we’re making these runs a Savvy Source tradition, and we want YOU to join us. Whether you’re a seasoned runner, a casual jogger, or just looking for a good excuse to get outside, there’s a spot for you. We’ll do a 3-mile loop on the beautiful Columbia Greenway Rail Trail, running through the center of Westfield.
And don’t worry if you’re bringing kids – they’re welcome too. Just be prepared for them to sprint ahead, pick up sticks, and ask profound questions about why we’re running when cars exist.
Why are we doing this? Because this is bigger than one race. It’s about:
- Building connections through Westfield community events.
- Encouraging each other to push past limits.
- Creating a space where fitness, fun, and teamwork intersect.
So, lace up, bring the kids, and let’s hit the pavement together. If running isn’t your thing? Take the opportunity to walk and enjoy some fresh air. OR, come cheer us on at the 5K.
Teamwork On and Off the Track – It’s What We Do
The same teamwork pushing us through these runs drives everything we do at Savvy Source.
Just like the team keeps each other moving (even when every fiber of our being says “stop”), we help our partners streamline their operations with business automation solutions, eliminate inefficiencies, and work smarter.
For 15+ years, we’ve been OnBase experts, helping companies tame document chaos with automation that works. Whether it’s integrating with platforms like Acumatica – making your invoices dance into the system – or syncing with Microsoft Dynamics, QuickBooks, or Viewpoint Vista, we make tech work for you – not against you.
We’re not just crossing finish lines on the track – our clients are hitting milestones too! One of our customers recently shared that our team unified their scattered systems into a single, easy-to-use platform. The result? A 90% reduction in manual oversight for their weekly vendor transactions, saving them 40 hours a month – equivalent to a full workweek! Even better, our system catches 100% of human errors by cross-referencing supporting data, ensuring nothing slips through the cracks. It’s like having a teammate who sprints ahead without breaking a sweat, while we’re still catching our breath at the Westfield Flat Fast 5K.
At Savvy Source, teamwork isn’t just a buzzword – it’s how we solve problems, build relationships, and, apparently, drag each other through 5Ks.
